Pat Robertson: “I Don’t Want To *Get* Weird”
Uh, Pat… sorry to be the one to have to tell you this, but: you got weird a long time ago, and have firmly stayed in the category of weird while redefining just how weird someone could be!
Ladies and gentlemen I don’t want to get weird on this so please take it for what it’s worth. But it seems to me the Washington Monument is a symbol of America’s power, it has been the symbol of our great nation, we look at that monument and say this is one nation under God. Now there’s a crack in it, there’s a crack in it and it’s closed up. Is that a sign from the Lord? Is that something that has significance or is it just result of an earthquake? You judge, but I just want to bring that to your attention. It seems to me symbolic. When Jesus was crucified and when he died the curtain in the Temple was rent from top to bottom and there was a tear and it was extremely symbolic, is this symbolic? You judge.
Unsurprisingly, this is but one of a numerous amount of theories as to why “God” sent the earthquake to the east coast of the US. I would show you the others, but I am in a charitable mood today.

Is it symbolic? No.
Other “signs” that the USA is f#%&ed up:
it’s among the most unequal societies on earth,
it is constantly involved in foreign wars
its government is captured by corporations…
but no Pat is concerned that them gays might get married
I’m surprised he didn’t say that the Washington monument was a pagan symbol. I’m pretty certain that if anybody tried to set up an obelisk today, Christians would freak. All the folks who want to believe that the Founding Fathers were only influenced by Christianity seem to overlook the Greco-Roman style of our 18th-century public buildings, and the fact that Washington was sculpted in a toga.
My thoughts exactly- folks like Robertson have been claiming that the Washington monument is a temple of Masonic/Pagan/Jewish phallic worship for many years.
Funny how these guys get away with playing “God’s Ventriloquist.” Scripture has no meaning in this man’s mind- his own “personal revelation” trumps it.
Well, of course, Pat, the Washington Monument–patterned after Egyptian obelisks–is definitely the symbol of Americuh’s devotion to her gods… just like the Romanesque Jovian temple that houses the over-scale statue of Lincoln and the Atheno-Grecian temple for Jefferson.
Idiot.
