Insane For Jesus: Rodney Howard-Browne
December 27, 2012
What happens when a group of delusional people gather and their head wizard gives them permission to have a corporate psychotic break with reality?
This:
I’m sure the ‘pastor’ in this video has a Bible somewhere, and probably professes to base his teachings on it. He may want to review 1 Corinthians 14 a few times…
Crazy people being crazy.

I grew up in a church where Rodney Howard-Browne visited. So did his brother, Gil. I actually went on a week-long fishing trip with Gil as a kid.
There’s something going on here that isn’t quite right – but I can assure you, neither of the Howard-Browne brothers are crazy. They have full control of their mental capacities and are really nice guys – and I believe, sincere.
Just a bit of an insider perspective.
What’s the word we should use then? Insane? Delusional?
The man thinks that he has special ‘gifts’ from God and that he can impart them through ‘signs and wonders’… That’s not very well connected to reality.
I grew up in a Pentecostal church as well, so you know all of the baggage connected to the ‘Man of Gawd’ and his ability to make magic happen through the Holy Spirit and yelling that special incantation, “in Jesus-uh Name!
I’m not a psychiatrist, but I’m guessing believing this grand narcissistic tale about himself–even if he can ‘function’ in other aspects of society–means that he is significantly lacking some important mental categories for understanding reality and the phenomena around him.
If he’s not crazy, then at the very least, when it comes to his opinion of his ‘gifts’ and ‘magic power’ he is extremely delusional.
