ANNA PIERRE, RN IS ENDORSED BY JESUS CHRIST!

From Bilerico:

The candidate, who also goes by the name Princess Anna Pierre, told Local 10 reporter Janine Stanwood that she learned of Mr. Christ’s “spiritual endorsement” by praying before she registered her candidacy. Pierre also claimed to have received three signs confirming that Jesus is, in fact, on her side. When Stanwood asked what those three signs were, Pierre replied, “Well, I’m going to keep them private.”

Unfortunately for Anna, even though she had the endorsement of the big JC she lost in a landslide. Out of 6,783 votes cast, she won just 56 — 0.83% — and came in dead last. What the hell? If the endorsement of the King of Kings can’t win you a simple mayoral bid then what good is it?!?

What’s even worse for Pierre is that former North Miami mayor Kevin Burns received the most votes and is openly gay. One can only assume then that Jesus tricked Ms. Pierre into flaunting his endorsement, so that he could instead ensure Burns won the election thereby demonstrating his heavenly endorsement of homosexuality… or something like that.

Reminds me of this fiasco:

What Happens When Candidates Called By God Drop Out?

And it would be unfair to leave out Pat Robertson in a post concerning religion and politics as he has worked very hard to be at the front of that particular crazy train:

In January, televangelist Pat Robertson told 700 Club viewers that in his annual New Year’s “conversation” with God, the Almighty had revealed to him who the next president would be. Up through Election Day, Robertson harshly criticized President Obama and the Democratic Party while praising Mitt Romney. Then, Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network predicted a GOP sweep, leaving Robertson utterly confounded by Obama’s victory.

In a stunning display of douchebaggery and Christian hate, Arizona student Dean Saxton held up this sign at a recent event to protest sexual violence against women:

Now, you would think that protesting sexual violence against women would be a no-brainer right? You would think that someone that supposedly organizes their morality around a book that says things like, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another;” or, “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death;” would have some small modicum of compassion. You would think that a “Christian” or any normal human being with some capacity for empathy would be able to see that rape or sexual violence is not the fault of those persons who have suffered at the hands of their perpetrators.

It’s hard to imagine how broken someone has to be to believe that an innocent woman is somehow responsible for being raped, or what sort of religious indoctrination they had to undergo to think that they “deserve it.”

I shake my head…

By Michael Allen, Thu, April 25, 2013

Dean Saxton, a junior at the University of Arizona, protested a campus sexual assault awareness event on Tuesday with a sign that read “You deserve rape.”

“If you dress like a whore, act like a whore, you’re probably going to get raped,” Saxton told the Arizona Daily Wildcat. “I think that girls that dress and act like it, they should realize that they do have partial responsibility, because I believe that they’re pretty much asking for it.”

Saxton, who is majoring in religious studies, often preaches on campus under the name “Brother Dean Samuel.”

The event Saxton opposed was “Take Back the Night,” a march by students to protest sexual violence against women.

How many evangelists, preachers, and faith-healers have tried to inspire the ‘faith’ of an audience by recounting stories that have happened in Africa? And in these instances there is no story too outrageous: the blind see, the lame walk, the sick are healed… even supernatural limb-regeneration!

Of course, there is no evidence of any of these healings, and to recreate it in North America is impossible. Is this because third world persons may be naive concerning outrageous claims, not really having good categories to evaluate the feasibility of metaphysical truth claims?

Could it be that they really don’t fully understand the relationship between cause and effect or anecdotal evidence?

No, according to Pat Robertson: it’s precisely because they are ignorant that miracles happen! [If he only knew how right he was! In a different sense of course.]

“Well, we are so sophisticated, we think we’ve got everything figured out, we know about evolution, we know about Darwin, we know about all these things that says God isn’t real, we know about all this stuff,” Robertson lamented, “in many schools, in the most advanced schools, we have been inundated with skepticism and secularism.”

Unlike these too-educated Americans, “overseas they are simple and humble” and are more ready to accept miracles.

This is such an idiotic comment I don’t even know where to begin, but at the very least I will leave this link that shows we have just as ‘simple’ and ‘humble’ people in North America:

Second Child of Pennsylvania Couple Dies After Only Praying.

Unfortunately, that is but one of many links on this site to ‘simple’ people who have allowed their children or themselves to die because they ‘humbly’ believe in miracles. So, on the one hand Pat is actually right: being duped by a snake-oil salesman does require someone being ‘simple’.

On the other hand, he is ridiculously wrong for someone living in the 21st century: demanding evidence, experimenting to see if something works, trying to understand the processes by which someone gets sick, and then trying to figure out a way to make their body healthy again is not being “skeptical and secular” it’s being “scientific”… you know, that process which has been shown actually to work!!! Repeatedly, and under observation.

Can you imagine if the roles were reversed for these ignoramuses? If faith healing actually worked, and it was demonstrable and repeatable? And scientists made outrageous medical claims without any proofs?

A scientific-evangelist stands in front of a crowd of persons wanting to believe that science can help them be healthy again. The standard medicine of prayer hasn’t worked, so now they are getting desperate and going to all of the Science Tent Revivals they can. The Science-Preacher stands in front of the crowd and begins, “last year we were in Africa, and there was a sick boy in a village, and everybody thought he was going to die. Then we gave him some penicillin and in three days he was healthy again. It was a miracle!

But, if he gives penicillin to anyone in North America for the same sickness it doesn’t work.

Would the prayer-healers believe the claim of the Scientists in this matter? Of course not!

But, obviously, the analogy breaks down because germ theory is the cornerstone of modern medicine, and scientific medical interventions are repeatable and can be shown actually to work. However, the recent track record of faith healing is not so good, especially when it has to resort to “claims” that it happened “in Africa” to “some person” some time “last year” without any verification or ability to reproduce the result in North America.

Yep, only a simple person would put their belief and health in the hands of those shaky claims.

I can not express to you how angry this makes me: impossibly stupid people , with incredibly ignorant beliefs, have been allowed to abuse a second child to death.

The Philadelphia couple serving 10 years’ probation for the 2009 death of their toddler after they turned to prayer instead of a doctor , has violated their probation now that another of their children has died. Herbert and Catherine Schaible belong to a fundamentalist Christian church that believes in faith-healing. Judge Benjamin Lerner said at a hearing they violated the most important condition of their probation: to seek medical care for their remaining children.

That’s right, it wasn’t enough for these ridiculous ignoramuses to kill one child, their faith is so incredibly ignorant and inflexible they had to kill two.

This is child abuse in the highest form, and these two should lose all parental rights, forever, and be in jail for a long time.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A couple serving probation for the 2009 death of their toddler after they turned to prayer instead of a doctor could face new charges now that another son has died.

Herbert and Catherine Schaible belong to a fundamentalist Christian church that believes in faith healing. They lost their 8-month-old son, Brandon, last week after he suffered from diarrhea and breathing problems for at least a week, and stopped eating. Four years ago, another son died from bacterial pneumonia.

Prosecutors said Tuesday that a decision on charges will be made after they get the results of an autopsy.

FULL STORY

Now you would think that removing their remaining children from their care, and locking them up for a long time would be a pretty simple conclusion. But: lawyers,

Catherine Schaible’s attorney, Mythri Jayaraman, cautioned against a rush to judgment, and said the couple are good parents deeply distraught over the loss of another child.

“There are way more questions than answers at this point. We haven’t seen the autopsy report. We don’t know the cause of death of this child,” Jayaraman told The Associated Press. “What we do know is Mr. and Mrs. Schaible are distraught, they are grieving, they are tremendously sad about the loss of their most recent baby.”

“Good parents”? “Good parents”? Now, I don’t want to be pedantic and all, but a “good parent” doesn’t let two of their children die from easily curable sicknesses by modern medicine because they have decided to be impossibly ignorant and hard-headed.

Any sect or religion which ignores reality, believes they can do magic, or that Dr. Jesus will heal their baby or child and refuses them any sort of healthcare or modern intervention should automatically lose their children. This is not an attack on religion, but rather for the safety of children. Parents and adults are supposed to be raising children and giving them the skill sets to be successful adults and parents themselves, not giving them terrible categories to interpret natural phenomena that end up killing their own children. It is absolutely ridiculous to assert they are “good parents”.

Disease occurs in the material realm, so even if your metaphysical speculation leads you to believe that ‘miracles’ occur and that Dr. Jesus is going to heal, or even sometimes heal, it is very obvious that sometimes Dr. Jesus isn’t in the office. Take a quick peek at history–perhaps the plagues in the Middle Ages–people praying their butts off for healing while hundreds of thousands die, but if they just got rid of the rats and washed their hands once in awhile far fewer persons would have perished.

Germ theory is the cornerstone of modern medicine which has actually extended the lives of millions of people. Its track record is not perfect but it has tangible, measurable effects in the material realm. If your child dies from pneumonia because you refused to take it to the hospital while pretending that you could do magic you deserve to lose your child and go to jail. This is not religious suppression, but protection of a child’s inherent right to safety, and protection from an abusive adult.

I will say this one more time: the point of parenting is to raise children with the skills to be successful adults, husbands or wives, friends, and parents themselves. Teaching them magic or putting their lives at risk by refusing modern medicine, which has been shown actually to work, is grounds for losing your children. It is abuse, and like sexual or physical abuse other adults must stop it whenever and wherever it is occurring.
