Prince Caspian

September 21, 2007

I am mildly excited about this movie. The Narnia books along with The Lord of the Rings trilogy were a large part of my youth, and I think as a fan you always enter the theater with a little trepidation, “What will they do to my beloved, cherished memories?”

Anyways, I hope they at least make movies good enough that make enough money that we can get to The Silver Chair.

Here’s the new poster for Prince Caspian:

Now the real question is how long does it take the fundies to notice that this poster says “New Age”? Perhaps we will have a debate in reverse of the last one? I can hear the salvo now, “They took Lewis’ Christian message and turned it into a modern secular new age message. Retreat! Retreat!”

    If they changed it to “the” new age, i think it’d go over better. At least then the dispensational fundies could have their cake.
    NB: i too am mildly excited. I thought the first was good, but somehow felt “lacking”…the magic of narnia and the wonder there wasn’t entirely captured (not sure you could…but hey, it’s worth a try).

    I think for the next year or so you will be able to get away with using the words “new age” in a somewhat favorable light…just don’t use the word “Hillary” in a positive way.

    Hey Mike – “The” New Age…very clever! I like it.

    I’ve read all the Chronicles many times in my youth–putting them away after a college class on Clives Staples–then getting them out again when my boys were young.

    I look forward to this moving coming out.

    But I did have one question:

    Why do you have such a preoccupation with young boys holding long swords?

    I should have a post up in the next few days explaining my absence. Rest assured it is nothing as dramatic as Kevin’s book collection or injuries. Which reminds me Pope I always meant to ask if all of the injuries and mishaps described on your various blogs are true, because if they are: damn.

    I’m sure you understand with your propensity to pull legs why I might ask.

    Anyways, take a look at this post by Chris it’s hilarious:

    Yup, all true. Some names were changed to protect the humorous.

    It’s funny you should mention this because just before I read your comment my redhead and I were going through all the things we’ve been through in the last few years. As we made the list we realized the consistent struggles really began in 1998 or so.

    We started the conversation because I have been working like a dog on my new commercial site and feel pretty much overwhelmed.

    She helped me have some perspective on how hard I was driving myself, all that has happened and that I likely needed a break. She suggested we get a bottle and throw off our clothes.

    Leaving for the liquor store now.

    Scott, comment and question
    Can you take Joel?

    and
    when study bibles have the little references on the side or bottom that say something like
    psalm 46:10’a’
    what does the ‘a’ mean? i know it means the first part of the scripture, but where does it have any relevance other than study bibles. Where did it comes from.
    Just something to make easier reading?
    Ok, i guess that is 2 questions….
    Thanks, Kristina
    oh, if you can’t benchpress 300 lbs, don’t go after Joel….

    1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
    from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

    2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
    the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
    the Spirit of counsel and of power,
    the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD –

    3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD.
    He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
    or decide by what he hears with his ears;

    4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
    with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
    He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth;
    with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

    5 Righteousness will be his belt
    and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

    6 The wolf will live with the lamb,
    the leopard will lie down with the goat,
    the calf and the lion and the yearling [a] together;
    and a little child will lead them.

    7 The cow will feed with the bear,
    their young will lie down together,
    and the lion will eat straw like the ox.

    8 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra,
    and the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest.

    9 They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,
    for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
    as the waters cover the sea.
    Merry Christmas, Scott and Family

    I liked this movie a lot more the TLTWATW. But seriously…why did there have to be a Hollywood romance spliced in?
