Biblia.com: Bible Study Online

August 28, 2010

Logos continues to bring it, and bring it well:

Biblia.com is your place for Bible study online. Part of a family of services from Logos Bible Software, it offers free access to a collection of Bibles and Bible reference works, with an easy user interface and powerful search engine.

More Content

Everyone gets free access to a number of Bibles and a few other resources. Log into Biblia.com (with your Logos.com account, or by making a free account here) for access to dozens of free Bible study resources.

Biblia.com uses exactly the same e-books and account management as Logos Bible Software, whether you download software or not. That means that Biblia.com already offers thousands of high quality resources for Bible study. You can purchase content for use with Logos Bible Software for Windows or Macintosh, or simply unlock it online at Logos.com, and you’ll have access to it online at Biblia.com.*

Anywhere Access

Logos Bible Software works on the Macintosh, for Windows, on the iPhone, iPad, and even supports mobile web browsers at http://library.logos.com. Your single user account works with all of these platforms, as well as here at Biblia.com. Purchase an e-book in one place and you can use it everywhere!* Future releases will even synchronize your notes across all the platforms.

Powerful Platform

Biblia.com is designed to make it easy to use a Bible side-by-side with helps and reference books. But underneath it is built on the same powerful platform as Logos Bible Software 4, the world’s leading Bible software. Logos has been developing Bible software for nearly two decades. Today it is a team of more than 170 people offering more than 10,000 titles for Bible study; Biblia.com is our way of delivering all that experience and content to users who prefer a web interface.

Open APIs

Biblia.com is designed as a service for everyone who wants to study the Bible. The site features a rich Application Programming Interface (API) at http://api.biblia.com. It’s possible to integrate Bible content from Biblia.com into your own projects. In the coming months we’ll be exposing even more of the powerful technology underneath the site.

Just the Beginning

Biblia.com is in beta release now; this release represents just a fraction of the features we have planned! Please share your ideas by joining the conversation on our forums.

Introducing the Biblia.com beta release: a super-simple Bible for the web that’s backed up by the incredible technology (and massive library!) of Logos Bible Software. What makes Biblia.com so cool?

1. Simplicity

Need to link to a Bible verse?
http://biblia.com/bible/jn3.16

Want to choose multiple verses and a specific version? http://biblia.com/bible/nlt/jn3.16-20

2. Power

Want to see the verse in context, or side-by-side with a commentary? Just click the “more >>” link and the single-passage display turns into a two-pane viewer where you can scroll through the Bible and thousands of other books from your Logos library.

You can even link directly to a book in your library: http://biblia.com/books/summbblnt/Jn3

Need to search? Biblia.com has the power of the Logos 4 search engine, running on the web.

3. Depth

Biblia.com offers thousands of resources for searching and reading online. Everyone can use a small collection of books (including more than a dozen bible translations). A free account allows access to dozens more free books. And Logos 4 users can access their library online, complete with synchronization of “last read” position between Logos 4, the iPhone/iPad, and Biblia.com! (The list of books available online is subject to publisher permission, as with availability through mobile applications.)

In the future, everyone will be able to purchase content at Biblia.com and use it wherever they choose: online, on mobile devices, in Logos Bible Software 4, etc.

4. Freedom

With shared licenses between Logos Bible Software 4 for Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Mobile Web, and Biblia.com, your content is available wherever you are. And we’re opening up to your great ideas, too: http://api.biblia.com offers a powerful set of web services for Bible search and retrieval. Anyone can harness the power of Logos Bible Software 4’s underlying engine to build new web sites, mashups, etc.

Biblia.com is still in beta, but the features that are live are running well. You can link to the URL’s created by Biblia.com’s “Share” feature and they will continue to work into the future. We will also be redirecting RefTagger and Ref.ly links to Biblia.com in the next few days.

Doug writes:

Biblia.com from Logos is the best online Bible study site I’ve used. Yesterday’s post at the Logos blog highlighted some of the great features… Of course, the best part for a Logos user like me is the online access to my Logos library. I have no idea what the basic resources available on the site are since when I’m logged in to my Logos account it shows the hundreds of Bible and book in my digital library. That’s cool… Even if you aren’t a Logos user, I recommend checking it out. It looks like without logging in you can access 41 Bible versions and 2 Bible study helps. Registering for a free account promises 37 more resources. Using it might inspire you to start using Logos! It’s a great program for Bible study resources.

This looks like it could be a really cool and useful resource. Well done Logos!

i didn’t notice my typos till I saw your quote. I meant “hundreds of Bibles and books”. Now I can access my Logos resources from my netbook whose hard drive is too small for me to load the software. definitely liking Biblia.com.

ah…the problem of having 2 wordpress accounts is that I was logged in with the wrong one with that last comment which links to my little known church blog.
