Settling the Petrine Question

Joel at Unsettled Heterodoxy wrote a post critiquing the Catholic reading of Matthew 16, and Petrine primacy based on it. Then Michael Barber responded, and Doug Chaplin chimed in as well.

Before you go any further guys, I believe many of your questions and subsequent answers should be informed by this revolutionary study written by a brilliant scholar. Petrine studies will never be the same…

    are you mocking the seriousness of an unanswerable question (along the lines of – how many angels can dance on the head of a pin)? shame on you.

    Thanks for that – I vaguely recall it from the time.

    Do you think that either James or John may have been the Torch? It might explain their desire to call down fire from heaven.
