Singin’ Against Satan: I Rebuke You!

May 27, 2011

Songs about Satan, the Devil, and/or rebuking evil powers keep popping around the internet today. Other than being a supposed ode to a victory over unseen powers these ‘songs’ have something else in common: they are terrible on so many levels.

Devils In the Phone Booth Dialing 911

I know it’s a metaphor but just why exactly would the devil call 911? Although I do have to admit, that Honky Tonk Grandma can play the piano pretty good.

I Rebuke You in the Name of Jesus

Serious bonus points for anyone who can come up with the lyrics for this song…

Satan Bite the Dust

It would be hard to have a career more defined by over the top schlock than Carman. But somehow, someway, just when you thought that one of his videos had to be the cheesiest thing you’ve ever seen, someone else posts a new video of his to Youtube, and the horror and memories of your childhood begin to resurface.

Man, he’s bad…

DISCLAIMER: No actual ‘Satan’ or ‘demons’ were harmed and or rebuked during the writing, recording, or singing of any of the above songs.

I have no idea what the lyrics are to the second clip but it’s pretty obvious she must be rebuking the spirit of tone-deafness in herself.

My husband walked into the room when I was watching this and the look on his face was one of sheer terror. He confessed that his mom took him to a Carmen concert when he was younger, and we didn’t know wether to laugh or cry 🙂

Have you read the comments to the second video? I think she is actually mentally ill…
