Here Be Dragons

September 17, 2011

The production value is not the best, and I’m not sure what’s up with the music, but Here Be Dragons is a decent 40 minute video introduction to critical thinking, pseudo-science, and skepticism.

If you believe in astrology, homeopathy, magic, alchemy, conspiracy theories, etc., you won’t agree with everything in the video, but at least you might gain some categories of why your arguments are so non-compelling to anyone that does not share the same limited categories of confirmation bias as yourself.

Most people fully accept paranormal and pseudoscientific claims without critique as they are promoted by the mass media. Here Be Dragons offers a toolbox for recognizing and understanding the dangers of pseudoscience, and appreciation for the reality-based benefits offered by real science.

Here Be Dragons is written and presented by Brian Dunning, host and producer of the Skeptoid podcast and author of the Skeptoid book series.
