Anderson Cooper Interviews Member From Bigot Worley’s “Church”

May 25, 2012

A member of Charles “Hitler is my theological mentor” Worley’s North Carolina hate-center “church”, Stacey Pritchard, keeps going to the media to defend  her pastor after his ridiculous hate-filled diatribe during one of his recent “sermons”.

How would I describe her? Hmmmm… Let me think about that for a moment. OK, I got it: Ignorance married arrogance and bred stupidity.

What is ignorance? Often I have heard the word ‘ignorant’ used in the connotative sense of someone being rude, but in actuality, ignorance is really a lack of knowledge. Unfortunately, there is a trend (strongly in display throughout this entire video below) in which ignorance goes hand-in-hand with an inflexible opinion.

Think about that for a moment…

I have little to no knowledge, understanding, skill, or expertise on the current subject but at the same time I have an inflexible opinion on that subject.

Don’t confuse me with any facts. I know what I know; I believe what I believe, and that’s all there is to it.

When one confronts such stunning arrogance and ignorance what can one do? Well, I guess one can attempt to ‘debate’ such a person, but then we all know what that looks like don’t we. Ad hominems, logical fallacies, red-herrings, and appeals to ‘self-evident’ truths that don’t appear very self-evident.

And the favorite rhetorical devices of the ignorant: interruptions, huffs, head-shakes, anger, smirks, sarcasm, and condescending questions.

Watch AC interview this oxygen thief and be thankful you don’t have to deal with her ever, for anything (some background info for first 4:40, interview with waste of skin begins at 4:48).

Hm. I have to call mitigating circumstances on this one. There’s probably at least a 50 IQ-point disparity between interviewer and interviewee here. She didn’t seem to understand half of what AC said, and he argued her into several corners without apparent effort, and with apparent hesitance to be too hard on her. She could definitely have better manners, but a lack of intelligence isn’t really her fault (IQ is highly heritable and biologically determined), and it can’t be remedied. What she needs is a good idea to defend inflexibly. Get rid of bad theology, and problems like these will resolve themselves.
