Was Darwin Wrong?

October 4, 2012

No. The evidence for evolution is overwhelming.

To believe otherwise is to misunderstand and misrepresent evidence, speculation, and theory…

By David Quammen

Evolution by natural selection, the central concept of the life’s work of Charles Darwin, is a theory. It’s a theory about the origin of adaptation, complexity, and diversity among Earth’s living creatures. If you are skeptical by nature, unfamiliar with the terminology of science, and unaware of the overwhelming evidence, you might even be tempted to say that it’s “just” a theory. In the same sense, relativity as described by Albert Einstein is “just” a theory. The notion that Earth orbits around the sun rather than vice versa, offered by Copernicus in 1543, is a theory. Continental drift is a theory. The existence, structure, and dynamics of atoms? Atomic theory. Even electricity is a theoretical construct, involving electrons, which are tiny units of charged mass that no one has ever seen. Each of these theories is an explanation that has been confirmed to such a degree, by observation and experiment, that knowledgeable experts accept it as fact. That’s what scientists mean when they talk about a theory: not a dreamy and unreliable speculation, but an explanatory statement that fits the evidence. They embrace such an explanation confidently but provisionally—taking it as their best available view of reality, at least until some severely conflicting data or some better explanation might come along.

Yes Darwin was wrong.. The evolutionary theory does NOT explain anything but adds more questions and it does not fit the evidence simply because the evolutionary scientist is not starting at square one but placing their own ideas upon fully developed specimen under the corruption that came in at the fall of man and which they cannot prove to have evolved as they claim.

“at least until some severely conflicting data or some better explanation might come along”

This is funny as they ignore such data just to keep their pet theory alive. The better explanation is: In the beginning God created… and that is supported by the evidence no matter how hard the evolutionary scientist tries to manipulate what they see in their experiments.

When the evolutionary scientist starts with the original conditions, and produce the original common ancestor then show how life developed as they claim, then they will have evidence BUT until then, they have nothing.

To quote Nick Lane, Life Ascending: 10 great Inventions of Evolution, on page 10: “We can never know how life really started on earth.”

Well he is wrong as we do know how life started on earth but the main problem he has is that he and all evolutionary acceptors simply believe that the evolutionary process and natural selection magically appeared when life did.

They cannot show when those supposed mechanisms actually came into existence nor show their physical properties. They accept an imaginary, invisible process even though they reject God.

The hypocrisy of evolutionary thinking disqualifies it from credibility and existence. There is no evidence for evolution at all.

theologyarchaeology, you ahve a severe misunderstanding of the theory of evolution.

If you have a better grasp of the theory, could you please explain it rather than some negative claim against another post. What exactly does he not understand? Please be specific.

Boz’s comment is the standard reply from evolutionists every time their theory has been refuted.

David, I didn’t believe it was possible to think you were any more deluded or stupider than I previously knew you were. I was wrong. You’re an even bigger ignoramus that I thought possible…

I am not deluded I just speak the truth.. If you read Life Ascending you would see where the author states: “We can never know how life really started on earth.”(pg. 10) but the author is wrong, we do know how life really started. the record is found in Genesis 1.

Where does one start in pointing out your utter ignorance of the subject you criticise. How about:

      * Conflation of abiogenesis and evolution
      * Failure to differentiate between the fact of evolution (common descent and large-scale evolutionary change) and the theoretical mechanism proposed to explain them (the modern evolutionary synthesis).
      * Failure to provide a testable special creationist theory which better explains the evidence in fields as diverse as biogeography, palaeontology and genomics which has been interpreted by well over 95% of biologists as evidence for common descent. As the evolutionary biologist T.R. Gregory notes, the initial evidence for evolution in Darwin’s day has been:

“supplemented by countless observations in paleontology, comparative anatomy, developmental biology, molecular biology, and (most recently) comparative genomics, and through direct observations of evolutionary change in both natural and experimental populations. Each of thousands of peer-reviewed articles published every year in scientific journals provides further confirmation (though, as Futuyma (1998) notes, “no biologist today would think of publishing a paper on ‘new evidence for evolution’ … it simply hasn’t been an issue in scientific circles for more than a century”). Conversely, no reliable observation has ever been found to contradict the general notion of common descent. It should come as no surprise, then, that the scientific community at large has accepted evolutionary descent as a historical reality since Darwin’s time and considers it among the most reliably established and fundamentally important facts in all of science.” [1]

I’ll take the consensus opinion of those who unlike you have actually acquired an education in evolutionary biology and related subjects at (real PhD, not fake) level, studied the evidence first hand in the field and lab and published their results, over a deluded crackpot any time. You couldn’t harm the image of Christianity any harder if you tried with your special creationist rantings. One could be forgiven for thinking you work for the other side.

Have you read the book Life Ascending by Nick Lane? He lists the 10 great inventions of evolution and life is #1. I think you need to go back to the drawing board.

Evolution is not true and has never existed and it doesn’t matter if most of the scientific community has accepted it. it doesn’t make evolution true but it does mean that they are deceived.

There have been no observations of evolution anywhere at anytime. but you are free to delude yourself if you want.

Evolutionists prove to me and everyone on a daily basis how foolish they are.

“Yes Darwin was wrong”. Prove it. It’s as simple as that. But remember, the Bible is not the proof to the claim: it is the claim to be proved. Try with facts, supposing optimistically that you have finally come up with at least one.

I guess someone invested by God himself to be his earthly speaker will have been provided with some of those facts by his own divine employer.

Or maybe you are just the deluded, self-styled academic Dr. without a shred of credentials that you have claimed to be since the beginning of your pathetic Holy Comic Sans Crusade.

Sorry but the Bible is the proof. If you disallow the Bible then I am allowed to disallow all evolutionary thought as proof for evolution.

I already know that it doesn’t matter what I say because you want to believe that evolution is true and will find ways to dismiss all contrary thought in order to keep that deception going and give you something to believe in.

You all have shown that you do not want God so why should I continue to cast pearls before swine? Evolution is not true and if it were, there would be no religion today, along with no right or wrong and no morality.

        >>Sorry but the Bible is the proof.

So tell me then, why don’t you believe the Bible when it tells you that the firmament is a solid dome separating waters above from waters below, as Genesis 1:6-8 states, or that the sun orbits the earth as Josh 10:12-14 does. Looks like you don’t truly have faith in the literal word of the Bible if you accept what the heathen astronomers say about the absence of a solid firmament and the reality of heliocentrism.

        >>I already know that it doesn’t matter what I say because you want to believe that evolution is true and will find ways to dismiss all contrary thought in order to keep that deception going and give you something to believe in.

Weapons-grade projection going on there, Mr Tee. Replace ‘evolution’ with ‘Biblical literalism’ and that describes your entire tirade to a Tee.

        >>You all have shown that you do not want God

Really? I have been a Christian for 27 years. A number of other responders to your nonsense are also Christians. Choose your words with more care.

        >>along with no right or wrong and no morality.

Funny how people from non-Christian religious traditions such as Hinduism and Buddhism manage to live virtuous, ethical lives. Ditto for many of the ancient Romans. Ever heard of the Euthyphro dilemma? I guess not.

        >> so why should I continue to cast pearls before swine?

Good question. You’ve been spamming web sites with your ignorance, invoking the scorn and contempt of non-believers and the frustration of many Christians. Far from witnessing to Christ, you’ve merely been confirming every negative fundamentalist stereotype of Christianity that exists. You would be doing Christianity a huge favour by retiring from the internet and stop posting your mendacious nonsense.

      • October 13, 2012 1:57 am

No, the Bible is not the proof. The Bible is the claim.
Cast your pearls before some gullible swine.

Besides, I find it funny that you quote some bull**** Jesus fanboi saying “We can never know how life really started on earth” then claiming right afterwards that “he is wrong as we do know how life started on earth”, of course without citing a single fact other than spewing out some Genesis (which, I remind you, is not a collection of facts but a fictional work written some 3500 years ago)
Go on with your delusion that “all evolutionary acceptors simply believe that the evolutionary process and natural selection magically appeared when life did”, thus proving once again you don’t have a single clue about how evolution works, since you are not even able to come up with basic level, high school biology knowledge.
