Narcissistic Pastor Ruins Wedding

September 23, 2013

Unfortunately, there are too many people that try to turn any event that is supposed to focus on someone else into an event where the focus switches to them.

Take a person who behaves like this, and tell them they are the “Man of Gawd…” and well, idiocy like this happens.

I guarantee this man lacks a significant amount of empathy.

How about the look on the bride and groom’s faces? Poor people. Everyone deserves better than that on their wedding day. Hopefully this terrible person never officiates another ceremony in his life.

Been to a Southern Baptist wedding. The Singles pastor who officiated also made a speech that was all about him. Yes on his former roommates wedding day. 45 minutes. I think I live tweeted that sucka. AWFUL!

I cringed watching the faces of the bride and groom.

I know this priest well. He is in my diocese, about 40 miles from here. While he can be a bit pompous, he is a wonderful man, a great priest, loving father and husband, amazingly talented organist and and amazingly popular in his parish and the diocese. I don’t know what brought this out of him, and I wouldn’t have done it, but we all have had obnoxious photographers disrupt what is, to us at least, a solemn moment of commitment before God, friends and family. I am sad that this good man has been made to look like a buffoon.

    Fr.,

No one made him look like a buffoon. He made himself look like a buffoon.

If he was unhappy with video being taken of him, he should have toughed things out and made a mental note to discuss this with future wedding parties, not so rudely interrupted the ceremony at hand. Not to mention that the way he handled things was not good. He could have made his point much more graciously than he did. Instead, he was angry, rude and unpleasant.
