CMMI: Cancer Pastor vs Creepy Worship
Round one of Christianity’s March madness Insanity continues!
Cancer Pastor Michael Guglielmucci
Michael Guglielmucci a former Adelaide pastor who inspired hundreds of thousands of young Christians with his with his terminal cancer “battle” has been exposed as a fraud. Guglielmucci released a hit song The Healer which was featured on an album by Sydney church Hillsong. It debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA charts. The song became an anthem of faith for believers, many of whom are suffering their own illness and were praying for a miracle for Mr Guglielmucci, who has claimed for two years to be terminally ill. One problem… Guglielmucci was lying about having cancer!
Guglielmucci may be the final definitive proof that God is not a God of retribution. He might just be the lynchpin in the argument against the mean, punitave, and vindictive God of people like Pat Robertson. The fact that this guy didn’t get hit by a lightning-bolt as he read Isaiah while hooked up to an oxygen-tank because he was “sick” so he could manipulate the emotions of the congregation darn near proves that there is nothing that anyone, at anytime, can do to deserve some sort of retributive punishment.
But Damn!… that takes balls. First, lie about having cancer, then get up in front of a large group of people (while being filmed!) wearing an oxygen tube–because you have cancer–and then read some emotionally loaded Scripture so you can create the right ethos for your song? Wow.
Words… Just… Fail
… Ooops! Make that Porn-Addicted Cancer-Faking pastor.
Do you remember when they told you stop doing that or you’ll go blind? Apparently, ‘they’ were wrong. Stop doing that or you’ll become a worship pastor, fake cancer, lose your hair, throw up all over yourself, and need an oxygen tube.
In summary: “The real reason I faked cancer is because I’m addicted to porn.”
Ahhh! It all makes sense now… or not.
Creepiest Worship Ever
There may be a context for this “performance” but, to be honest, I can’t really think of any good reason for someone to go on stage and sing like this.
On a pendulum, I guess this would be at the far end compared to the Cancer pastor. From over-the-top-manipulation-and-emotionalism to absolutely no relevance to anyone, living anywhere, at anytime, in the history of mankind.
Someone, please tell me what the Sheol this guy is doing in the second verse?
While this might not strike anyone at first blush as ‘obscene’ as cancer pastor, this video–very much like Guitar Praise–stands as a testament to a greater sickness within the church. Take any hack with no skill and put him up on stage ’cause “he’s doing it for the Lord.” How many bad, derivative, artists or programs have we been forced to watch or endure merely because someone slapped the label Christian on it? Unfortunately, there will be more examples of this as we go on.
Googly takes it. No contest. This is a 4 game sweep. It’s the Indianapolis Colts playing against a Canadian Pee Wee football team. Utter domination.
… and the sporting analogies begin! 😉
You know you missed them…
Lil Markie gets my vote, purely on the back story alone:

You know the creepy guy was bad way before he got to the possessed voice. I’m not sure I will recover from having to listen to that. But Googly gets my vote.
Googly definitely gets my vote. And is it my imagination, or does the lil Markie guy look a bit like John Candy?
Cancer Pastor left me in a state of disbelief.
Man, is that twisted.
Ironically, when I talked about Guglimucci to an evangelical friend who is a big fan of the HS/PS style churches, she got reallly defensive, caliming that he needed our sumpathy becasue he was obviuosly suffering from mental illness, hence the lies etc….. where does it end? When faking cancer isn’t enough, the cover story is mental illness….
thr backing track on lil markie video is AMAZING! wow, I miss the 1980’s department store elevator style tunes….
I was going to vote for the cancer faker…but it goes to lil Markie simply for the creepy song with an aborted fetus singing about his mother killing him on the link you provided.
yuck
what’s worse an adult fooling other adults or an adult producing something children might listen to and freak out?
hard choice.
I was so irritated that I couldn’t even form my comment coherently! 😉
i agree with cancer pastor
