Answers in “Revelations”: Dragons Make You Dumb

August 16, 2013

In the following video Darek Isaacs, the author of the book Dragons or Dinosaurs? Creation or Evolution?, argues that dinosaurs are real because the Bible says they are real.

So there’s that bit of air tight argumentation.

However, he also goes on to reference dragons from the book of “Revelations”. Now, I don’t want to be all exclusionary, but if you can’t even get the name of the book right perhaps, just perhaps, you should leave the biblical interpretation to the grown-ups. There is one Apocalypse of John, and its name is Revelation, not Revelations.

It’s not Matthews, Genesises, or Nehemiahs; and it’s not Revelations.

So if he can’t even get that rudimentary information right then I’m pretty suspicious about anything else he argues for,

Modern translators simply could not allow the dragon to have an authentic seat at the biblical table in these modern sophisticated times. Therefore, in poor form, a blind eye is turned to that scaly and unwanted dinner guest … So, to the temporary hope of secularists, and to the anxiety-riddled, uninformed Church, I will shine a spotlight for all to see that the bible speaks of dragons as real.

I wonder what shape Mr. Isaacs Hebrew and Greek are in compared to these blind modern translators? I’m guessing if he needs the ‘meaning’ of a Hebrew word for some special pleading he’s using a Strong’s. In fact, I’ll put a twenty down that this clown talks about translations and only references Strong’s, or something similar.

Anyways, here he is spouting some ignorance:

The Bible speaks about dragons. Our authority — everything we do, we have to measure by the word of God. That is what I believe. So we have to go to the Bible, and the Bible speaks about dragons.

If dragons in fact were entirely mythological, if they were a figment of the imagination, and if they never ever did exist, then God just compared our adversary to a make-believe creature that never existed.

Well there you go. If you ever needed an example of a circular argument Isaacs presents a beauty in his statement above. A perfect Circle.

“to the anxiety-riddled, uninformed Church” – Because he’s not arrogant at all. The bible is unambiguous about arrogance. But then again: dragons.
